A couple of memes, one each from Kelly, Geena, and Sara:

Hi, my name is: Amy!
Never in my life have I been: in a cast. Plaster or theatre-wise.
The one person who can drive me nuts is: My younger sister.
When I’m nervous: I want to not be nervous. Being nervous is sometimes worse than what's causing it.
The last song I listened to was: "Rats" by Syd Barrett
If I were to get married right now my best man/maid of honor: Haha, I already am, and when I got married we didn't have maid of honour/best man. If we were to do it again, though, I'd definitely want Kelly. BFF, I CHOOSE YOU
My hair is: needing to be dyed again. You can see the grey in it, and I swear I saw red highlights when the sun was on it earlier.
When I was 5: I read at a tenth-grade level. I also won a multi-city-wide readathon for K-12th graders. (I won free Book-It personal pan pizzas from Pizza Hut and a plastic phone that was shaped like a football. Some kid on the bus told me that if I wanted to call her tonight I should dial 7777--and keep dialing "7" until someone answered. I was like "BITCH WHATEVER" [well really I was just like "...." but I was thinking "I'm five, not stupid.])
I should be..: Unloading and realoading the dishwasher (but it's hot in the kitchen D:)
When I look down I see: My keyboard. The first one I ever got, with the first computer that was ever ~mine~ (in January of 2006). A bunch of the keys are worn off, and it's completely filthy underneath them, because I'm afraid to pop all the keys off enough to clean. I know where they all go, of course, but I'm wary of breaking the connectors and being unable to snap them back in place.
The happiest recent event was: trying out the slow-cooker/recipe book and finding it was a success!
By this time next year: I have no idea. Emmy will be starting kindergarten, I'll have been either working from home for almost a year or I'll have gotten a different job.
My current gripe is: personal. I could complain about the heat, so I'll do that: OH GOD IT'S HOT
I have a hard time understanding: homophobia/transphobia/other bigotry
There’s this girl I know who: ...likes gossip?
I like you when: we're both in a good mood.
Take my advice: pull down your pants and slide on the ice (HAD TO)
The thing I want to buy: a Kindle. Mostly for saving text files and reading everyone's story indices as many times as I want, wherever I want :D
If you visited the place I was born: IT WOULD LOOK LIKE A HOSPITAL Oh, the place my parents/I lived? I don't even know what you'd see. It used to be the upper floor of a divided home/apartment.
I plan to visit: California again in October with Emmy, to see Kelly and Geena <3
If you spent the night at my house: don't touch my computer. (You may use my laptop.) Please, make yourself at home--sit wherever you like, put something on TV, get something to eat...but don't touch my computer/desk.
Most recent thing I’ve bought myself: something interesting I'm considering mentioning later.
Most recent thing someone else bought me: Dustin got me season 4 of Criminal Minds for my birthday, and Kelly and Geena sent me several birthday gifts--including the amazing how-to cookbook and a small slow cooker (which I'm going to use to make homemade barbeque sauce and baked apples :D)(not at the same time)
My middle name is: May. My mom tried to change it when I was seven, to Jo, and says she called...somewhere, and sent a check in. My name was never legally changed--so all of my school records say Amy Jo while all of my official papers (driver's license/social security card/marriage certificate/etc) say Amy May.
In the morning I: Go to the bathroom, get dressed, brush my hair, put on my shoes, check my email and LJ/GMH/Tumblr if I have time, grab something for lunch at work, and rush out the door.
The animals I would like to see flying besides birds are: ...none D: I don't even like birds.
A better name for me would be: Uhh...I have no idea. I don't even really like "Amy", it's just...what I have to tell people to call me. I prefer no name or a screenname. (But I hate being called "Gan".) (I also hate "Gandolforf" with the G capitalized.)
Tomorrow I am: Hmm. I dunno. Maybe I'll take Emmy swimming at my mom's if it's still going to be this hot.
Tonight I am: going to WRITE, DAMMIT
My birthday is: just passed!

Day 01 – Introduce yourself

Hi, I'm...Amy, and I'm...here. I just turned twenty-five, I live in Iowa, I've been married for seven years, and I have a four-year-old. I spend six to ten hours a day working data entry; soon I'm to be working from home, though my employers are still trying to hash out the details. When I'm not working, if my daughter isn't around or is sleeping, I spend much of my time writing original fiction, containing characters (though I honestly hate calling them that--they're people, dammit) and a story I've had in my head for the last four years. It's evolved much from when it started and still isn't worked out completely, which is actually just ducky with me. I also spend time reading other people's original fiction and talking with them about our various worlds, and fucking around on GPX+, an online Pokemon game. Stories and writing are my true loves, and are not just hobbies but a lot of the time honestly the glue holding me together. I also have a few close friends who mean the world to me <3

More later! Maybe this daily meme I'll actually keep up with.

Do you believe in God? What religion are you?
I really don't know. Sometimes I want to, but most times I don't know if I can. I was brought up No Particular Religion until I was about ten, then my mom got GOD!! and went Jehovah's Witness (though DOING IT RONG) and I had that shoved down my throat until I was about seventeen and she seemed to largely give it up. I continued Bible study a few months after I got married, but then told my tutor it just wasn't for me. She was really nice and I kinda miss her, but I don't miss RELIGION!!

Do you believe in an afterlife? What do you believe happens when you die?
No, not really. I believe that when we die our consciousness winks out and we un-exist. You're "not" before you're born, and you're "not" again when you die. I'm not at all happy about believing this, as anyone who's read my story can probably understand.

Are you proud to be from whatever country you are from?
Not having lived anywhere else, I don't think I have any real basis for comparison. I mean, I live here, so it's obviously something I can stand. But proud? I don't...think so...not un-proud either, though.

What is your view on gay marriage?
I think that if you don't like it, shut up and don't get one. I don't often go the "STFU AND STFD" route, but when it comes to what ought to be a civil right for any capable couple? Fuck yes.

Do you think sex before marriage is okay?
I think that what I think about it doesn't matter. People are going to do it, and as long as they're not being reckless I think they can make their own decisions about their own bodies and lives.

What are your views on love? Do you think it’s real? Do you think we only experience one love per lifetime? Does everyone have a soul mate?
I definitely think love is real. If the "we" this question is referring to is "humans", then no, there are plenty of people who experience it more than once. I don't believe in soul mates/fate/destined lovers either--there are degrees of compatibility. Sometimes people are compatible and things are easy, and sometimes they're not but they still want to be together. If they're both willing to work at it, it's possible and that hard work may strengthen their relationship. Or not, who knows?

Do you want to get married and/or have kids?
I am married, and I have one child. I've gone back and forth on marriage as a teenager, but I'd pretty much always wanted to have children. My partner said he never wanted to get married (his parents were divorced before he was one--his father remarried, his mother didn't, though she has a common-law husband) but changed his mind after being with me for awhile.

Do you think any drugs should be legalized? Do you think there should be an age for drinking?
Obviously I think marijuana should be legal. And I agree with Sara that the drinking age should be eighteen.

Pro-life or pro-choice?
I go back and forth. I used to be strictly pro-life (not anti-choice--I was never all "IF SHE GOT PREGNANT IT'S HER OWN FAULT LIVE WITH THE FETUS AND PUSH IT OUT" but more "...poor dead baby ):" ). The idea of someone getting rid of an embryo because it isn't convenient for them makes me sad, but it's not my body, not my embryo, or really my business. If a woman has thought about it and decided that's what she wants to do, I'm not going to tell her not to--or worse, that she can't. It's a personal choice.

What do you think about straightxedge?
Don't care. I'm big on the "you do whatever it is that makes you happy as long as you're not causing damage to others or trying to push what you think is best for you into being what's best for EVERYONE" line of thinking.

What do you think about prostitution? Should it be legal?
I think there's a big difference in someone choosing to be a sex worker, someone who is safe in all environments and making a lot of money, versus someone who is either forced to do it, or someone who chooses to because they think they must. There's no way to say it should be legal or illegal when you look at the different ends of the spectrum--high-class shiny $600/hr person in a penthouse versus seventeen-year-old broke runaway, or eleven-year-old child in a darkened alley.

What do you think about bisexuality?
Uhh...the same thing I think about heterosexuality and homosexuality and pansexuality and asexuality. If that's how someone identifies their sexuality, then that's how they identify. Labels are only good to make conversations shorter--we use them so others know what we mean. Bisexual = the ability to be attracted to males and females. Some people are bi (and some people are straight/gay/pan/asexual). That's what I think about it.

Do you think there should be an age to get tattoos/piercings without the consent of a parent?
Yeah. Eightteen. If you decide when you're sixteen that you really want such-and-such tattoo or piercing, wait two more years. Still want it? Have at it, then. Don't want it anymore? Aren't you glad you waited out the fad? I know too many teenagers/young adults that regret and detest what they got done--most those earlobe stretchy-dealys, but some others, too.

Do you believe in aliens?
Not really. I think Sci-fi is good for a story--if you're into that sort of thing. Which I'm not. Fantasy, a little....but allow me to sound like Jackie Burkhart for a second, "Michael! I told you--I don't like space!"

Do you believe in regrets? Do you have any terrible ones?
Of course I believe in them. I agree again with what Sara said--"NO REGRETS WHOOO" is more often than not an excuse to be a dick and not have any responsibility for your actions towards others. I do have some, but...I don't know, nothing too ~terrible~. I've learned each time.

What do you want to happen to your body when you die?
If there's anything viable, then whoever needs it/wants it can have it. And cremation--not burial. Burial is gross.

Have you experienced your ‘first true love’ yet? Do you believe you ever will?
A couple of times.

What is your take on people who self harm (cutting, burning, scratching etc etc.)?
I feel bad that they feel bad enough emotionally/mentally to hurt themselves physically. It means there's something serious going on. I hope that people who do it get help, because most times it is available.

Do you think high schools should give out free contraceptive?
What, like condoms? I...really don't know. I can see where it'd be a good idea, but I can also see fourteen-year-olds seeing it as a convenient way to start having sex when they're not ready. I know that some kids will have sex whether or not they have condoms, in which case they'd be good. But I also know that some won't without that protection, and if it's casually available, that's a little too convenient.

What do you think about plastic surgery?
Some people need it, and some people want it. Some people that want it can pay for it, and some people that need it cannot. It's not magic and it's not for everyone.

What do you think about the death penalty?
I think it's stupid.

Do you say your country’s national anthem/pledge of allegiance when it is said/listened to?
No; I sit quietly and do not make a disruption. I hate it when others cause a disruption by harping on me about it.

What do you think about thinspo?
I have no idea what that is.

I just Googled it and saw a picture of what looked like a skeleton with skin. That, along with Sara's answer, gives me a pretty good idea on what it is. I think I'm gonna be sick.

I want to throw dirty diapers are the genius that wired this house. Breakers going off all over the place >:\
